Alberta colleges and universities are finding creative ways to do business in the face of COVID-19.
Due to the pandemic, many postsecondary schools are conducting recruitment virtually. Prospective students are finding two new faces at Lethbridge College that are willing to help.
Communicating with prospective students. It’s just one of the many challenges post-secondary institutions like Lethbridge College face in a pandemic world.
Due to COVID-19, most on-campus tours and in-person meetings involved in the student recruitment process have been cancelled in a bid to keep students and staff safe. But Lethbridge College is still finding ways of opening up many opportunities.
Student recruitment is looking at district-wide school presentations so that they are hitting an entire network of schools and to help engage students.
Chelsea Tolton recruiter of Lethbridge College had recently signed on as a student recruiter in October.
“I’ve always really loved the college. I’ve loved how they treated students, they’ve always treated students as people and not just a number”. said Tolton
Tolton says Students can still access a recruiter virtually, by phone, and via email. She add’s that if they apply, they get entered for a chance to win a 1500 tuition credit
Another recruiter. Sara Dziwoki just joined Lethbridge College in January. She knows young people face difficult choices. Especially during a pandemic.
“Helping the students to decide on going too high to postsecondary is a hard thing for the student to go through.” saids Dziwoki.
Dziwoko also says the college’s open house in March will be conducted virtually. Prospective students interested in attending can find participation information on its website.
More students are focusing on programs that have online offerings and or more flexibility. The college is noticing a greater interest from international students as well
