Lethbridge College received tremendous support from the students towards the new trades and technology facility though a $200,000.00 donation.
The Lethbridge College Students Association held a referendum with its student elections last Thursday to determine the support towards the development of a multi-use student space, which was proposed by the LCSA. The voter turn out was in favour of the gift and the referendum was passed.
“The referendum was considering a monetary donation by the students association to Lethbridge College for the trades and technology building,” says LCSA Events and Communication Coordinator Tanner Marcer. “It went through on an astonishing 85 per cent. It was around 496 votes for yes to donate the money.”
The multi-use student space that will be built in the new building will be included in the designated study and meeting areas on campus, which the LCSA is happy with.
“When they develop the building, which I believe should be finished in 2017, there is going to be a social space the size of the Cave right when you enter the building and we’re pretty pleased with that.”
A formal announcement of the donation will be made at an event later this year.
