Students organize Relay for Life

Lethbridge College is giving back with its first Relay for Life. It will begin March 2 at 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. Saturday morning at the DA Electric Barn.

The event is run by the Canadian Cancer Society and is open to faculty and students, it’s a way to fight back against cancer, and remember the ones we have lost and the ones we could save.

The CCS is a community-based organization, which is run by volunteers. Its mission is to end cancer and to enhance the quality of life of people living with cancer.

A handful of students at the college wanted to get involved with relay.

The students thought it would be fun to organize a student-based Relay for Life on campus.

In late November, the students were able to secure a date and venue for the event. Registration will open at 4 p.m. You can either volunteer for the event or form a team by registering online now. There can be eight to 15 people on each team.

Registration is $15 as of Jan. 31.

Entertainment will be provided all night, as well as dinner, a midnight snack and breakfast for each team. There will be games, prizes, zumba, yoga and more.

The Lethbridge College Students Association hopes to make this an annual event at the college.
