The Lethbridge Curling Club is sweeping hard with people like Casey Scheidegger who is practising for competition in the ladies provincials.
The provincial competition is happening on Jan. 26 and Scheidegger is spending many hours at the curling rink getting prepared.
“For a week I would practise for 10 hours which is including games,” says Scheidegger.
“Provincial competition is the qualifier for the Scott Tournament of Hearts so if we win we will be representing Alberta.”
Dave Manser, general manager, says Casey, her sister and her father have been members at the Curling Club for a long time.
“Casey and her sister are both very competitive and they started curling when they were five years old,” says Manser.
“They started out in the junior program then went to the competitive side and have had tons of success.
“Now Casey has moved on to the women’s and is skipping at the provincials coming up.”
Scheidegger is in her second year at the University of Lethbridge studying kinesiology.
The Curling Club has different leagues along with practice ice where anyone can come out and throw curling rocks.
People who have never curled before can sign up and take lessons. If you want to join a team, the Curling Club will fit you in with the right team.
