Switzerland to face Sweden for the gold medal

Switzerland will take on Sweden for the gold medal at the Ford World Women’s Curling Championship, after defeating Korea 9-6.

Switzerland scored two points in the first end, which forced Korea to use a different strategy. Ji-Sun Kim’s shots helped her team score three points in the second end.

Mirjam Ott managed to draw to the button in the fourth end to tie the game up, and took the lead in the sixth end. Switzerland stole two points after Kim missed a draw shot.

Kim rebounded from her miss, successfully hitting her draw in the seventh end to score a point. Korea managed to steal two points in the eighth end, taking the lead again.

However, Switzerland scored three during the ninth end and stole a single point in the final end to seal their victory.

The gold medal game will be held at 4:30 p.m. Korea plays Canada at 9 a.m. for the bronze medal.

Both medal games will be rematches. Sweden defeated Switzerland on Friday night 7-6 in extra ends. In their meeting on Saturday afternoon, Korea beat Canada 4-3.

Sweden are the defending champions at this event.

Switzerland’s last medal at the World Women’s Championship came in 2008, where they defeated Japan for the bronze.

Canada won the silver medal last year under skip Amber Holland.

Korea has competed in the world championship three previous times (2002, 2009 and
2011). This year is the first time they have been able to compete for a medal.
