People once again supported worthy causes and local charities last weekend by attending the 15th annual Lethbridge Hurricanes Teddy Bear Toss.
People attending the game brought teddy bears with them to throw onto the ice when the Hurricanes scored their first goal against the Prince Albert Raiders.
This event brings many fans to the game, with some patrons even booking separate seats for huge, person-sized stuffed bears.
Hurricanes player Cam Braes scored two minutes into the second period, triggering a massive shower of teddy bears from the excited audience.
A total of 2,388 teddy bears were thrown onto the ice, where they were collected by volunteers and placed into vehicles from Bridge City Chrysler, as well as a police cruiser from the RCMP.
All the stuffed toys collected at the event will be given to local charities and causes.
This year, the event was sponsored by the Lethbridge branches of Canadian Tire and Global Television.
Canadian Tire also assisted by offering a game ticket with every teddy bear sold at their Lethbridge stores.
The Raiders got up to a 3-0 lead early and never looked back winning 5-1.
