The sun is arguably the most important planet in your astrological birth chart (in astrology the sun is considered a planet).
When you read your weekly/daily horoscope, the sign you are reading is your sun sign. The time of year that you are born denotes what your sun sign is. If you don’t know your sun sign, here are the dates of each sign:
Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19), Taurus (Apr 20 – May 20), Gemini (May 21 – Jun 20),
Cancer (Jun 21 – Jul 22), Leo (Jul 23 – Aug 22), Virgo (Aug 23 – Sept 22),
Libra (Sept 23 – Oct 22), Scorpio (Oct 23 – Nov 21), Sagittarius (Nov 22 – Dec 21),
Capricorn (Dec 22 – Jan 19), Aquarius (Jan 20 – Feb 18), Pisces (Feb 19 to Mar 20).
Your sun sign is the “outer you” – it is what people will most likely see when they first meet you. It can be very helpful when meeting someone to learn his or her sun sign. I ask people their date of birth all the time because it helps me to understand that person’s basic nature and personality – before I have even had a full conversation with them!
By understanding your own sun sign you can also learn a great deal about yourself. Your sun sign shows how your ego will react to life experiences. It can explain why you have tendencies to act in a certain way. I study my sun sign so I can have a deeper knowledge of my strengths and weaknesses. Once I am aware of the weaknesses I have as an Aquarius sun sign I am able to work with improving myself in those areas of my life. This is a very helpful form of self-reflection for me.
Another interesting aspect of sun signs is to know how certain signs will react with each other. This can help with clarifying conflicts as you can see why there is a misunderstanding. It can also be monumentally helpful when making friendships or becoming romantically involved with someone. Certain sun signs are very compatible and attractive to each other, while others will find struggles with their differences.
