The things kids say

There are many occasions that my kids have said swear words, or made some really funny innuendo that have made me laugh so hard I cry. These are the moments that I cherish because I know that soon, those days might not be here anymore.

The other day I picked my daughter up at school. They had a fieldtrip to the corn maze that day so I asked her how her day was. She said to me “mom, it was awesome!”

I told her that was good and then I asked her if she got lost, she replied, “Duh mom it’s a maze, what do you think?”

I immediately started laughing because only my child could be that much of a smart ass. This got me thinking of all of the things my kids have said to me over the years that just make me laugh my butt off.

There was one time that my parents were headed up to Elkford with my oldest, Shelbi, she was about three at the time. She was hanging out in the back seat, suddenly, she said to my mom, “grandma, I said s@#$ and you didn’t even hear me.”

My mom was laughing so hard that she was crying. So finally my dad was able to get composure and said to Shelbi, “You shouldn’t swear, it’s bad. See you made your grandma cry.”

Shelbi sat up in her seat, looked at the back of my mom’s head, and said with a smile on her face “Grandpa, she’s not crying, she’s laughing really hard. My mommy does that too.”

There was another time when both my kids and I were in the car heading to Wal-Mart, and my youngest, Ainsley, said to Shelbi “I see your boogers.”

So Shelbi smirked a little, turned to look at Ainsley, and said “well, you can have them if you want, but they taste better if you have some sugar.” She then turned back to face the front and kept the straightest face I have ever seen.

I started laughing of course, and Ainsley was so appalled that she started crying and told me, “Shelbi has problems mom, that is beyond gross. “
