Tough competition in frozen yogurt market

Two frozen yogurt stores closed in Lethbridge today. There has been a dramatic rise in frozen yogurt shops in Lethbridge since The Fix Frozen Yogurt Bar opened in July 2012. Since then the city has housed nearly seven different frozen yougurt shops.

Today the doors closed at both The Fix Frozen Yogurt Bar on 3 Ave. S. and Tutti Fruitti in Park Place Mall.

The Fix will be back in a new location according to its Facebook page.

In order for us to remain optimally competitive, we wish to offer more variety, seating and an enhanced customer experience. We anticipate reopening next spring.”

They admit the “frozen yogurt scene” was very different when they opened in 2012 than it is now.

But it may not be for long. According to Tutti Frutti’s faebook page they have also closed their doors for good. On August 30 Yollipop, the second yogurt shop to open, also closed down, promising to relocate with no expected date or location.

You used to be able to get a yogurt on any side of town.  Now the frozen treats are disappearing, some for good.
