Back to school season has hit and with it is a new wave of staff and students.
For the Lethbridge College Kodiaks athletic department, there is a new person taking up the helm as they welcome back Todd Caughlin, a former student-athlete and coach as their new athletics director.
After 17 years in the United States, making stops in Texas, South Carolina and San Francisco, Caughlin is happy to be back.
“You know it’s going to be a challenge, but I’ve never backed down from one in my life and I’m looking forward to this one,” he said.
His presence brings stability to a revolving door in the Kodiak’s athletics department that has seen three different athletic directors in the last six years.
“I think every one of our athletic directors has had their strengths, but I feel Todd is a really good mix of the strengths,” said Kodiak men’s volleyball coach Ian Bennett. “His knowledge and experience at various institutions before he came here I think puts us in a really good place to take Kodiak athletics forward.”
Caughlin has already started developing and implementing a three-pillar plan for the department, with athletes’ grades as the top priority.
“I like to win and I want to do it the right way,” he said.
Caughlin went on to express his excitement for the new direction the athletics department has taken.
“Were going to win, were going to do it the right way and were going to develop a championship level athletics team here.”
