In my practice TV news story, I produced a story on the Kodiaks women’s soccer team’s home opener.
Being this was my first news story since last semester I had to get back into the swing of things and I made the mistake of not reviewing everything beforehand on my own.
This caused me to shoot with the wrong shutter speed and not focusing on something in the middle of the field causing my image to be a bit out of focus.
I also forgot to check the wireless mic’s for batteries before I left which meant not shooting my interviews and getting them done right away.
But this didn’t cause me to get set back in producing the final product as I have great time management.
Now onto my official first TV news story which is for mark and using the industry cameras.
I am producing a story on the Kodiaks men’s volleyball upcoming season.
When it came to interview the coach and player, it was my first go with the new cameras everything went well.
At least I think it did at the time.
But when I got to editing I noticed both interviews were a bit dark which is a problem but was able to lighten it up a bit in Premiere Pro.
After the interview, I went to shot b-roll and from my practice TV news story I learned to shoot something in the middle of the picture to get everything in focus.
In the end the b-roll is in focus and looks good.
But for my next news story, I will have to work on getting more exposure in my interviews.
Other than that one thing, everything went to plan and the final product looks good in my opinion.
Now I just have to wait for George’s critique.
