Native Awareness Week is in full force at the University of Lethbridge, educating the community on traditional teachings and explaining the traditional regalia and style of dance is some of things that took place this week. Director for the FNMI centre Martha Many Grey Horses says is it important that the public understands the culture and the people who are indigenous to southern Alberta.
“We are one of the few area’s where we still come together as a tribe,” she says.
The FNMI hosted a mini pow wow served meals, and the elders shared meals. The week finishes off with a talent show thursday and closing ceremonies will happen on friday. Tawnya Plain Eagle, Kodiak News.
