Buchanan Library begins Food for Fines

Lethbridge College’s library is letting students square up on late fees by making donations to a food bank.

The Buchanan Library is accepting non-perishable food items in lieu of paying library fees.

The food donations are going to the Lethbridge College Students’ Association’s food bank, which helps struggling students put food on the table.

Library Services Specialist, Cindy Warner, says even through the summer months, there are students who rely on the food bank.

“Even though there are less students on campus through spring and summer they do food hampers throughout the year. There are always students in need that need a little helping hand.”

The program is running until April 26, the date of convocation. The library is also accepting cash donations and gift cards for those who would like to support the LCSA foodbank.
