Kodiak runners take top spot at home

The Kodiak women and men’s Cross Country team both took gold at the ACAC provincial championships this past weekend at Nicholas Sheran Park.

On the individual side Lethbridge College student Alex Harding placed first, while his younger brother placed third. Emily Lucas placed third for the women.

In soccer the Kodiak men’s team went head-to-head for the provincial championship game on November 1st, losing 1-0 to the Keyano College Huskies. Though it was a loss, the Kodiaks had a very successful season finishing second overall provincially.

The Kodiak volleyball teams have upcoming away games on Nov. 13 and 14 versus the Briercrest Clippers. The men’s team defeated the Medicine Hat Rattlers this past weekend 3-2, while the women lost 3-0.

Basketball season has shot off, and the men’s and women Kodiak teams are currently undefeated beating both St. Mary’s Lightning and the Ambrose Lions. This weekend they will play the Briercrest Clippers here at home.

Lethbridge College continues to have successful athletics program and College President Paula Burns explained she is proud of our staff and students.

Among some of the awards are Nico Pasquotti with ACAC soccer player of the year, Andrew Harding honoured as the ACAC men’s cross country rookie of the year and Bertil Johansson honoured as the ACAC cross country coach of the year.

“The past couple years in particular, we have had some outstanding coaching with great management in the athletics department and commitment to the students, it’s been fantastic,” said Burns.
