Research in Six Mile Coulee

A newly designed culvert behind the college is proving beneficial for environmental science students. Sarah Redekop has more.

Lethbridge College students are using a culvert in the Six Mile Coulee to conduct hands on research. The Enviro Span culvert was installed last year by the City of Lethbridge to provide a path crossing over a stream. Because the culvert is designed to have little environmental impact, students have been collecting data to determine its benefits. Student Amy Russell says she learns best when she is able to conduct hands on research. Environmental Sciences instructor, John Derksen, says the culvert will provide students with ongoing research opportunities.
