Blockchain is the next big thing in sharing and tracking information

Lethbridge College’s Agriculture Entrepreneur in Residence program hosted Jefferson Gardner, the CEO of InBridge, to speak about blockchain.

Blockchain is a new digital ledger system that will track and share information, while staying transparent.

Gardner says blockchain’s security is what will make it successful.

“There is so many players in this string where things can be corrupted or human error gets into it and blockchain is what will prevent that issue.”

Gardner adds blockchain has the potential to impact many different industries including agriculture.

It can also be used for transactions involving cryptocurrency.

Hi, I’m Seth Slomp, I live on a beef and dairy farm not too far from Lethbridge in Picture Butte. It’s a family farm that stretches 1,500 acres where my uncles, my dad, my brother and two hired hands all work. Growing up I was never interested in agriculture, my love was for sports, specifically volleyball and soccer. I also played basketball, badminton and threw discus in high school. Currently, I attend Lethbridge College where I am a second-year student-athlete in the Digital Communications and Media program. When I'm not in school I also play for the Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s soccer team.
